How is a Psychologist different from a Psychiatrist?

Both receive similar training, that often overlaps, and often work together, sharing a great many things - like diagnosing and treating mental disorders and maladjustments by using a variety of therapies. The major difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist is that, while a psychiatrist can prescribe suitable medicines in a particular case, if required, a psychologist CANNOT do so as per law. A psychologist uses mainly counseling and psychotherapies to treat psychological problems.
