Case Study - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

The child is 5 years old, male, studying in LKG standard. At 7 months, he had an epileptic attack and underwent treatment for it for a year. His developmental milestones got delayed. He started speaking at 3 years but after sometime, stopped speaking but regained speech at the age of 4 years. His speech is still not clear. The chief complaints were that he was hyperactive and couldn’t sit at one place. He fought and got violent at times. The child had poor attention span and due to his hyperactivity and impulsive nature, also had poor concentration.


He was socially interactive and made friends easily. The child, otherwise, was very intelligent and grasped different concepts easily. The test results indicated that the child had good mental ability but because of ADHD, was not performing in line with his capabilities. The child underwent the therapy sessions for 3 months, as a result of which, his attention span has improved dramatically. He has started comprehending the instructions and has improved his eye contact. The earlier hyperactivity has waned considerably and now he can sit properly at a place for more than an hour now. There is positive feedback received from his parents and school teachers.
